Lightbox Theatre Company is holding open auditions for its spring 2023 production of Tomás & the Library Lady, directed by Aléta Mascorro, M.A. (book by Pat Mora, adapted by Jose Cruz Gonzalez).

Synopsis: Tomás, the son of migrant farm workers, meets a librarian who introduces him to the wonderful world of books. The stories enrich the lives of Tomás’ family and instill a love of reading. TOMÁS AND THE LIBRARY LADY is the inspiring true story of Tomás Rivera, who grew up in a migrant worker family, befriended a librarian in Iowa, and learned to love books and the places they took him. Tomás went on to a successful career in academia and became the chancellor of the University of California, Riverside. Adapted from the beloved children’s book, this play can be readily understood by both English and Spanish speakers.
Seeking 4 actors:
-30’s-50’s Latinx male-identifying.
-20’s-40’s Latinx female-identifying
-18-28 y.o. Latinx male/female identifying
-20’s-40’s Latinx or White female-identifying, open to any race or gender
Auditions will be held in early December by appointment only. Please email stagemanager@lightboxforyouth.org to book your audition slot.
*Load-in, load-out, and school shows are required for actors to attend upon acceptance of their roles.
*Experience with singing or musical theater is a must!
*Open to professional actors, students, and community members!
