AUDITION

Lightbox Theatre Company is holding open auditions for its spring 2024 production of Little Red Robin Hood, written Nick Zagone, directed by Stefani Tsai and Ileana Ramirez.

Dates: 

• First Read-thru: December 2023
• Rehearsals (early January-March, 2024)
• Load-In: Sunday, March 10 2024*
• Tech Rehearsals: Week of March 10-18, 2024
• School Performances: Tuesday, March 19, Wednesday, March 20 & Thursday March, 21 (9:00 am-2:00 pm for all three days) *
• Public Performances: Friday, March 22-Sunday, March 24 (Friday and Saturday performances @ 7:00 pm, Sunday performances @ 2:00 pm)*
• Load-Out: Sunday, March 24*

Synopsis: 

Little Red Riding Hood was known as saying to the Big Bad Wolf, “Ooh, what big eyes you have!” But Red’s eyes are pretty big too, and in Little Red Robin Hood, a new take on an old tale, Red’s eyes are now wide open— to injustice! Yes, Grandma had to work from home during COVID and took over Little Red’s bedroom as an office and Red’s not too happy about it! On top of that Grandma’s new boyfriend is none other than one Mr. Wolf. Having had enough, Red has recreated herself into “Little Red ROBIN Hood”: social justice warrior! So when she sees books pulled from her neighborhood library she recruits local homeless vet (Little) John on an odyssey you have to see to believe. It’s humor, songs and pandemonium in the city of Sherwood Forrest as one little girl becomes a legendary bandit and changes history!

Seeking 1 actor:

• Actor 1: Little Red Robin Hood

             -Female-identifying, age 18-25, who can pass as a tween

Auditions will be held January 9th and 10th by appointment only. Please email stagemanager@lightboxforyouth.org to book your audition slot. 

• Please prepare a 1-2 minute contemporary or children’s play monologue, along with a musical theatre song of your choice (or 16 bars) (Happy Birthday or a similar selection is acceptable). 

*Load-in, load-out, and all performances are required for actors to attend upon acceptance of their roles. 

*Experience with singing or musical theater is a must!

*Open to professional actors, students, and community members!

*LightBox Theatre Company is an all-inclusive organization. People of all races, gender identification and ages 16+ are welcome to audition. (Note: Due to the Grant funding policies, we are currently only able to hire actors age 18 or older for the 2024 season)
